You Won't Believe The Price of Audio-technica's Headphones - But You Will Want Them

Sometimes we consider some products as the best over-ear headphones. On the other hand, there are limited edition Sony Works of art – which is what we are going to talk about.

Audio-technica is a worldwide group of companies, established in 1962, devoted to the design, manufacture , marketing and distribution of audio equipment. It has always been innovative towards revolutionising audio equipment with the best performance, lean articulation, fast transients and assertive sounds. It is the leading innovator in transducer technology and is renowned for the design and manufacture of audio equipment. Blending technology and innovation to develop high performing audio equipment with supreme quality sound design has always been its goal.

It has been 60 years since Audio-technica has been in the business of audio and the Japanese hi-fi specialist is very well aware of the cheap wireless over-ear propositions and the inexpensive but talented turntables.

However, breaking this mould, Audio-technica has introduced the ATH-W2022 over-ear wired headphones.

It is agreeable by everyone that these closed, dynamic headphones which are entirely sourced and assembled in Japan certainly celebrate 25 years of wooden headphone craftsmanship.

These headphones have been made using Sakura (cherry blossoms) and hou-ou phoenix designs which are hand-painted on the left and the right houses. The Japanese Maki-e lacquer technique, with the right housing also incorporating mother-of-pearl has been used.

Apart from such spectacular looks, the headphones are equipped with baffle-integrated 58-mm drivers within the exquisite housings. These drivers were specially developed and optimised for the new closed-back model. Further, a pure titanium centre dome, pressed to a thickness of 30 microns (0.a3mm) comprises the diaphragm. This dome places an emphasis on mid-high-range audio reproduction and top-high frequency response.

The headphones are provided with a 60th anniversary commemorative wooden storage case with a Kiso Cyprus lit that is cut to shape the irimoya styling of the headphone arms. Also, the newly designed magnet circuit incorporates a pole and yoke, structured from laminated pure iron plates to reduce counter electromotive force.

Deer skin has been used to make the ear pads and headband for long-lasting durability and comfort. The buyers are also provided with 3m cloth-wrapped cables (with A2DC connectors at the headphones). One of the cables comes with a 6.3mm gold-plated stereo plug while the other comes with a 4-pin XLRM balanced connector.

Being a limited edition, only 100 pieces of the W2022 headphones will be made available worldwide and all the headphones will be numbered from 1-100. It is still unclear though, that the buyers will get to choose their lucky number or not.

These headphones are the most delicate and high-end products that will attract any eyes which land upon them. Also, Audio-technica has made it quite evident for its fans that it cares more about the sound quality than the visual aesthetics of its hardwares which gives the confirmation that the headphones are going to provide a beautiful sound quality.
