New Amazon Kindle Will Have a Stylus, Leak Says, and It'll Come Very Soon

The major new addition unveiled by the retail and home tech giant at the September Amazon launch event for its Amazon Kindle family of e-readers looks like the biggest shake-up of the line since the Kindle Keyboard.

Joining the Standard Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Oasis, the Amazon Kindle Scribe is the first model in a new family of ereader. It is regarded as Amazon’s most premium Kindle yet. It has notable upgrades like those in screen size and storage space when compared to the existing models. A brand new feature in the range in the form of a stylus has also been introduced.

For a Kindle, the Kindle Scribe has a rather large display of 10.2 inches. This panel is enormous as compared to the display of Kindle Oasis, the previous Kindle heavyweight in this regard, of 7 inches. The display is 300 pixel-per-inch which matches the resolution of its siblings.

A Kindle with a screen this large has been spotted after quite some while. It has a large bezel on one side like the Oasis. The bezel helps to easily hold the Kindle, but there’s no prominent ridge as on the Oasis.

The stylus provided with the Kindle can be used for annotation of the documents as well as for taking notes, sketching and drawing in other apps. Earlier, Amazon talked about a Kindle which, from 2023, from Microsoft Word, will be able to send documents to phones. This revelation suggests that the device has better connectivity than older kindles.

“Kindle Scribe is the best Kindle we’ve ever built, creating a reading and writing experience that feels like real paper. It’s inspired by the Kindle customers who have added billions of notes and highlights to books over the years, and it’s also ideal for reviewing and marking up documents, managing your to-do list, or doodling over a big idea. I’m so excited to get it in the hands of customers soon.”

At the launch event, Amazon said that the stylus is designed to give the feel of a real pen on the Kindle which can be used for taking notes and journaling. Unlike the Apple pencils and similar tablet slates, the stylus doesn’t need to be charged since it doesn’t have a battery which gives it a big advantage.

Although kindles with stylus have already been offered models by brands like Onyx and Kobo, it’s the first time an Amazon Kindle is coming with a stylus. The storage options of the Kindle Scribe is similar to that of the Paperwhite, i.e.16GB, 32GB or 64GB, but the 8GB option is not available which adds a high-storage version that’s new for Kindle, marking yet another surprising upgrade.

The Amazon Scribe costs $339.99 along with Kindle unlimited bundled for four months. Also, the price of the stylus is included in the $339.99 which means that the pen need not be purchased separately. It will start from. AU$549 in Australia. However, people are curious to know whether it will be launched with the four months unlimited Kindle pack or not.
